Hey there!
I just realized that it has been SO LONG since my last post. In that time, I have taken on another job and also been a part of some really unique projects and opportunities! It has been a busy past few weeks, but I have really missed publishing content for you!
A couple weekends ago, I had to move into a different dormitory that is a little older and, well, maybe not quite as nice as the room I have been living in this summer.
As I was moving in, I had this itch to change up a few things in my room to make everything a little more cohesive and cozy to come home to. So I set out on a Sunday afternoon to make a few purchases for my new (old) room!
In total, I spent close to $50 on my dorm room revamp. I went to Menard’s, Wal-Mart, Michael’s, Dollar Tree, and Pier1. Here is a gallery of my entire dorm room area, and I have listed below where I got everything!

Desk and Shelf Space
I added a little decor to my desk but mostly to the built-in shelves to make it feel a little more cozy. I already had the gold framed terrarium (from TJ Maxx), but I purchased the three potted succulents from Dollar Tree for, obviously, $1 each. I purchased the twine ball and pieces of greenery around the terrarium (that are actually a napkin ring I found in the clearance section) from Pier1 for a total of $3.26. I purchased the greenery on my bottom shelf and the mini potted plant on my lamp also from Dollar Tree.
I purchased a sheet of marble scrapbook paper from Michael’s for $1.79 to cut into strips and disguise the contents of my plastic drawers. I taped them inside the drawer fronts to hold them in place and prevent them from being bent or creased after time.

I already had this old white shelf, but it desperately needed a deep clean and fresh coat of paint. So I used the spray paint I purchased from Wal-Mart to give it a fresh coat. The paint cost $3.96. At some point, I may end up painting it with a metallic gold! (Ignore all the ugly cords behind and disorganization of this shelf space—I’m still trying to figure out what I want to do with it!)

I used Command strips to hold some small crates on my wall for further organization—props to my roommate, Ryley, for introducing me to this genius idea!!!

I also purchased a seat cushion for $5 from Wal-Mart to make my seat comfier and dress up my boring desk chair a little.
The Bed

On my bed, I did not change much at all. I simply purchased a white case for my body pillow to match the light quilt and blend in more with the wall. I originally had a light pink floral pillowcase on it, but since I have used that case since high school, I decided to change things up a little. 🙂
Above my bed, I put together a simple wall decoration from a dowel rod that I purchased from Menard’s for under $2 and a garland I purchased from Michael’s for $10.79. The garland was originally $17.99, but I used a 40% off coupon on their website to reduce the cost to more like $10. I simply wrapped a piece of twine that I already had around both ends of the rod and draped the garland over. (Here is my Pinterest inspiration.)
I also came across this unique boho fabric at Wal-Mart that was pre-cut, and I told myself that I would find a way to incorporate it into the room. It was 4 yds. for $4, and I decided to drape it on the end of my bed to keep everything underneath concealed.

That’s all I have for today! I hope you’re getting into the back-to-school excitement and maybe even changing up your dorm space to make it feel like HOME! Send me pictures of your cute dorm room if you want; I love seeing all the creativity that goes into decorating such small spaces.
Feel free to share this post on social media as well!
Until next time,
Annie Lark
